I think my pictures are too big off my phone to upload. I'll try and do it from my computer later. My two new ranchu in QT are healing up nicely. They had ulcers on their backs when I purchased them. The wounds were large and had fluffy white growth coming out of them. I did 1 tsp per gallon salt, with some methylene blue in the water, and I am feeding them a homemade kanaplex gel food. They look better every day and the wounds are turning into black coloring on their backs and closing up. The black will likely fade as they continue to heal. My new butterfly telescopes have been in good health, but then I accidentally almost killed them today ?. I was doing the water change and the python knocked the lid into the tank almost smashing them ☹️. They seem unharmed but I am keeping a watchful eye on them.

The adventures of a goldfish addict

It's been a while since I've been on the forum; I mainly lurk around now. Some updates: I have since gone from a 55 gallon, to a 75 gallon, and now I have a 125 gallon for my goldfish. I don't have any of my original crew now This last month Red died shortly after her 5th birthday with me; she had a tumor that developed over the last two years, but it never seemed to bother her and she still was her spunky, active, and hungry self. Then when I came home from an errand and went to feed the fish I noticed she was bleeding profusely from the tumor! I quickly mover her to a quarantine tank and then did a 100% WC on my main tank. She died within a day. I am sad to lose her, but I do have many new goldfish friends since I was last on Kokos. I got a few new additions this week that are doing their time in quarantine now. If I can be good and keep you guys updated I will. I am still going to college while working as a dog/cat groomer. Fish keeping is my downtown hobby that I love and I am going to try and be more active here again, kokos always puts a smile on my face; plus hardly anyone gets my addiction to goldfish
I have decided that I need a blog here on kokos to share my goldfish adventures other than just posting threads. I will start at the beginning. On February 22nd 2012 my boyfriend and I went to our local fish store to get two goldfish for our ten gallon tank for our anniversary. I picked a tiny red cap oranda and he picked a calico ryukin. I told the store keeper that I wanted the best food so I bought a bag of hikari purple and he advised me to feed them frequent small amounts throughout the day to encourage growth, well he hadn't bothered asking me how big my tank was and I had no idea about stocking limits. My fish grew quickly and so did my love for them. Soon I came to a point where I had 4 goldfish in a 10 gal, they were getting big, and some bullying was starting to occur. I then found kokos and saw I had made a big mistake and I was set on fixing it. My parents had an old 55 they were not using so I grabbed that up and upgraded. I have since gotten more and more tanks and I'm breeding goldfish. I will post more as things happen because I don't want to backtrack too far but here is a pic of BigRed a couple months ago. When I got her she was smaller than a quarter, this picture was taken on February for her 1 year birthday with me.
