Hey guys, here is the pic of my tank as promised.

Tell me what you think. How can I make it "Tank of the Month" worthy? More plants? Different plants? More fish? I currently have 1 red and white oranda and 1 spotted dojo. Just wondering what ya'lls opinions both good and bad are of it. Thanks in advance.

Should I maybe get a few more plants? If so, what plants should I get? Also, should I get something for the dojo to hide in like a little cave or something like that? Let me know what you think.

How about a background for starters. I am always changing my tank and just can't get the look I want..... <_< Also, maybe some drift wood or some sort of ornament.

I think if you put a few aquarium safe rocks in there and a few more plants in it should make tank of the month.

How many gallons is your tank?

A background would be good

Lovely tank.
You can usally get the backgrounds for about 2.99

Another suggestion, put your bubble curtain under your gravel just enough so that it does not show.
You can make backgrounds too with foil or paints and stuff like that.
If your fish figures out he can eat those plants they won't last long. I gave up and went to plastic.

The tank at the fish store that had the dojos in it had constructed a neat rock cave out of the flat rocks that are sold at the fish store. It looked really nice. I have a little cave that I made by breaking apart one of those rocks that are sold with the holes in it. Some kind of reddish lava rock.
Also, I think a background would be nice, and a neat piece of wood and a rock cave

i agree with the posters above. a background would help. also your dojo will really appreciate a cave or two. they loooove to hide out and need a place to "get away from it all"
p.s. driftwood does wonders for any tank!

Would the bubble wand still work if I buried it?

Yes, the bubble wand will still work. Mind does a great job. Some of th bubbles are bigger. It gives a nice variety. IMHO.

Looks better. I changed my tank around and added polished pebbles instead of the regular aquarium gravel. I also changed from the round green buble wands to the flat blue ones. They are harder to cover so I am not sure what I am going to do.

The tank looks cool at night (I'm asuming that second pic was at night). A background would hide the tubes and wires in the back. The loach would really love a hiding place...a cave or something. The plants you have might get eaten (assuming...again...that they're real). If you try more leafy plants like amazon sword or onion plant your goldie shouldn't eat those. My guys tear up my anacharis (not sure if I spelled that right) but it's good for them... I bought this "plastic" rock thing for my tank for like $10 bucks. It came with all these little levels that you snap together like blocks and you can build it any way you like. I like that because I can change it and it looks like a real rock structure. That would also give your loach a place to hide. Maybe think about getting a goldie buddy for your tank too. It looks like a ten gallon though...
It's awesome how excited you are about your tank! Good luck with your dream of tank of the month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. I gotta get a digital camera so I can share pics too!

Much better! I would still add a couple large rocks and a piece of driftwood. I like the black background.

The black background is actually just one of my sheets from my bed that I draped behind it so the flash wouldnt be so overpowering reflecting off of the white wall. But I too like the black, so I think I may just get a black background for it tomorrow when I go to get a few more plants and a cave thing for my loach to hide in. Thanks for your opinions, I will post more pics tomorrow with the extra goodies.

No problem man. I got 2 of them, and originally had them in my 29g tropical tank, but I took them out. The one that I put in this tank was about 5 buck I think. Not too bad at all, I think it is worth it. They definately add personality to the tank. Well, I am off to Petsmart to get a little cave, a few plants and a black background. I will post the new pics later tonight. I will get some solid prices on bubble wands if you want, as far as sizes and brands go, I will get some prices nailed down for you.

Here are some new pics as I promised of the new plants and the cave for the dojo. I also brought the oranda home a playmate, since this is going to be a temporary tank, I brought home a black or blue (what is the difference?) oranda who is just adorable. I am going to put these guys into my 29g either tomorrow night or the night after that, so hopefully, they wont be too cramped for the time being, what do ya'll think of the new upgrades? And this means I also need to come up with a name for the new gf.

My tank with the new goodies.

Isnt he just adorable?

I think the red and white oranda is a little jealous of the black one getting all the attention lately, what do you guys think??

The new guy, learning the rules of the tank, or maybe they are reminiscing. They are from the same batch at the pet store.
Well whats the verdict guys? And believe me when I get the 29g set up, you know I will post pics. I tend to get a little trigger/shutter happy with my camera, enjoy.
BTW, how do you get your pics chosen to be candidates for pic of the week? Just curious.
Thanks,
Parker

Oh yeah, about the bubble wands. The TopFin brand's prices were something like this, 18" was 5.95 24" was 6.95 around there, they didnt have a very big selection when I went by there, sorry It wasnt more thorough. Hope this helps a little. But basically, the smallest was about 5 bucks and I believe it was 14" dont quote me on that though and the prices went up to 7 or 8 bucks for a 28" i believe. The 28" was actually just 2 14" wand joined with a plastic peice. Hope this helps.

Oh yeah, one more thing, man, I wish I could remember everything that I want to post, and put it into one post not 80 different ones. Anyways, my anachris is pretty much demolished, what do you guys think? What kind of plant should I put in there to replace it? I can only guess that it is my goldies that are eating it because since Saturday when I put the new one in, the leaves seem to be vanishing a little quicker. What kind of plant whould I use to replace it? Another moneywort? Just wonderin, thanks for puttin up with my multiple posts.

Parker!!!! Those pics are awesome! That's a blue oranda you have there. How cute! You should have saved that pic of the 2 of them face to face for pic of the week. That picture is perfect. There's no doubt that I would have voted for that picture.
I suggested before that plants with big leaves don't get eaten like amazon sword and onion plants. They also seem to do well in cold goldie water. You can always find some fake plants and mix 'em up too.
Your tank is looking great!
