I was wondering if anyone had plans for a stand for a tank that is about 30" x 12" x 12"

Im sure you'd be able to find a plan somewhere!
What specifications do you have?
Wood frame, metal frame? What sort of wood?

a wooden frame, nothing fancy, even if it were made from ply-wood a 2x4's it wouldn'te really matter im going to paint it. I think i want it about 3' tall w/ like a door on it or something (just to put equipment in).

im not sure why plans would be needed. i knew the dimensions of my space, and a stand is basically a cabinet. of course, you would need extra support for the weight of water and glass. mine is simply a 2x4 frame, reinforced, with five shelves in the cabinet part, which is plywood, laminated with oak veneer( the wood kind, not the cheap looking plastic self adhisive kind). its top deminsion is 30x12, and i have 2x4 braces spaced equally from one end to the other. 6 total. which is probably overkill, as far as strength goes. there are four "legs" on the front and back edges, one on each corner, and two in the middles for support. then the bottom is boxed. i also added moulding, around the top and bottom edges, and surrounding the door, for asthetic appeal. then i stained it to match the rest of my wood in the room. coincedentally, i got a tank finished in oak. that was luck of the draw, as thats what was available wen i went to the fish store.

im sorry this is your post JdMac but i have a question, how do you enforce a table so it can support a 50 gal?

I built almost all my stands the way fantail disribed, except for the ones having a double iron stand. Even my 160 gl tank is on a home made stand, and it has excelled in 5 years of goldie keeping and 1 move. You could probably put an elephant on that stand, and it would be okay...
If you are not too much into building, you can use cinderblocks all around the perimeter of your tank, and cover it in a nice table cloth. You wont have the possibility of shelfs in that stand, but its done real fast!

This are some great sites, too! Now, if I ever had a chance to finally make it down to the chatterbox tonight, it just disappeared!
