i just bought a new 55 gallon tank and im going back and forth between whether to put goldies or tropicals in it. i have one of my 10 gallon tanks with one red cap oranda and a large (6-7 inch from top to bottom of fins) angelfish, and a pleco. im sure my angelfish would much rather be in the 55 gallon, along with the pleco, but i wasnt sure how many other fish i would be able to put in with them. does anyone know if theres any basic rule of tropicals per gallon?

also, is it okay to have a large angelfish in a 10 gallon? i thought i might leave him and the pleco in the 10 gal. and move the goldie into the 55 gallon, and maybe purchase one of the 8 inch orandas they have at a local pet store but im not sure if my angelfish needs the larger space more than the goldie does huh.gif

For tropicals a good rule of thumb is one inch per gallon.

thank you! i guess ill put my angelfish & pleco in the 55 gallon, since the angel has spent all day staring out longingly at the new tank next to his lol.GIF
