Full Version: Got Biospira... But Tank Is Already Cycled

Well, the topic says it all... I heard it's good for like 6 months... Is that opened or sealed? I'm not planning on getting any new tanks in the near future... so now what?

I might could possibly buy it from you. I live in SC.

Add it anyway. It works good as a booster. (Albeit an expensive one tongue.gif)

If your tank is cycled you don't need a booster - just store it unopened in the fridge in case you ever do need it, or sell/give it to someone who can use it.

Hey Happy do you know how long that stuff lasts? I'm just wondering:D

Storm,
I would just hang on to it if I were you, maybe add a little occasonally if you do a really big water change. Or if, heaven forbid, your fish got sick and died and you needed to clean the whole tank and start over, you would have it. Just keep it in the fridge unopened until you need some.

Koko, I assume as long as it's kept refrigerated, it would be good for a very long time, if not indefinitely, since the bacteria would go dormant at those temps. I'll see if I can find out for sure. smile.gif

According to a Marineland rep, they suggest a 6 month shelf life as a guide, but insist that the product is still "good" past that time if stored properly (refrigerated).

Bio-Spira is good for up to six months if kept cool in your fridge. Mabye you should hold onto it in case of an emergency.

I got bio spira and it was great! you should definately save it. my fish got ich and i had to medicate the whole aquarium (i dont have a hospital aquarium) and my cycle got messed up, so i just used it to set it right.

you never know when emergencies will come! wink.gif
