Hey guys i have some questions about ponds.

Okay what do you guys do when your diging, with all that dirt?
Do you put it in your garden,or just get rid of it?

Good question - I piled mine around the edge to build the sides up so run-off water could not flood the pond. It also makes it deeper and you can use it to help support a waterfall if you want one.

Or you can fill in holes in the yard or pot holes in the road or make elevated flower beds or you could put a big ugly pile of dirt in your yard (I have one of those if anyone wants it) or I could come up with lots of things you could do with it.....

I used the soil to build raised beds in the garden but then the pond was only a 6 foot circle and 2 feet deep. It was my lucky day in that the soil was moist, not a single root or rock was encountered and the soil was a nice silt loam and not a sticky clay. It took me only 2 1/2 hours from a lawn covered spot to a finished hole. The next pond will be larger and deeper and I'm planning on using the soil again to raise the beds around the pond and more importantly to develop a raised area as a foundation for a waterfall.

I started keeping it in the garden area, but since I dug such a big hole I had to start getting rid of it. I loaded mine up and hauled it off, dumped it in the desert where dirt bike riders go. I made some nice jumps for them .

Im planing on makeing it about 3 feet deep not sure how long
yet but im planing on over 1500 gallons.

Maybe you could try and find a farmer close by that will let you dump the dirt in a field? Or if you do have an area that is just vacant that kids ride their dirt bikes that is a great place, they are always wanting more jumps LOL

maby ill just make a big hill of dirt in the middle of my yard and
plants flowers on it.

ROFL well, just don't make the berm to steep or it'll look like an Indian burrial ground.

LOL!i think ill use it for some other things or dump it in the forest ........yup the forest would be a good idea.

Stick a "Free Dirt" sign out, someone will take it....
