I hired an army to take care of the algae in my tanks!
Bought 6 otos and 5 Amano shrimp for my planted tank...
Another 4 otos for my goldfish tank...
I hope these guys can keep algae under control!

Cool - let us know how they do.

What do Amano shrimp look like? Don't think I've ever seen one.

Can otos take care of the green algae that is "suspended" in my water?

I don't think so... but a UV sterilizer does the job. You could also add a bag of phosphate removing media to your filter or a phosphate removing pad to your tank. If you decrease the phosphate concentration of the water, the algae won't be able to survive and the water will clear up.

I have really long black/dark green algae on my java fern - would otos help? It's really bugging me...
That shrimp is such a neat looking thing!

Four otos in my 29 gal tank took care of all the algae in less than a week... they keep the Java ferns so clean that they almost look fake! You might have to give them a hand by trimming the long hairs of algae, they will do the rest.

I had ottos and in my experince they do the job but are very hard to keep alive. I prefer snails for the growing algea on rocks and such and my UV for the water itself.
