Hm.. well i just purchased a new fishy and noticed some redness to his tail. but when i got a closer look he has some sort of sore/ blood packet on his anal fins.

I added some melafix yesterday and this morning but the redness doesnt seem to be going away... any ideas guys?

Are you sure that your ammoia level is 0ppm? Red streaks are most commonly found from ammonia burn. The only thing to do in the meantime is wait it out. As long as your fish is still active and eating right, then just observe him.

Keep your water squeaky clean with frequent water changes. Keep checking the params as well. If the water is healthy - so is the fish. Let me know...

It could very well be something along the lines of an ulcer. Often salt, and the fact that your fishy is now in good water quality should help clear that up real quick (a week or so). Just feed him well and otherwise try not to disturb him too much.
