i noticed a smell coming from the tank and tracked it down to the lid, it has a very pondish smell,i was wondering what is the best thing to clean it with, it's a plastic lid so obviously i think some smell is has got deep into that.
any help greatly appreciated

Well since its the lid and doesn't come in touch with the fish you can use a cloth soaked in detergent and hot water. Then you could run a strong solution of bleach through the cloth and wipe that over it, rinsing after. The bleach should get rid of any lingering bacterial decay smell.

thank you , i was kind of worried about the smell effecting the fish if i used something strong, i ended up using baking soda with hot water and that seems to have done the trick
