On the 75 gallon I recently set up I am running an Emperer 400, A Whisper Internal 40 and a H.O.T Magnum. But I'm wondering if I would be as far ahead to just go with a second Emperer 400 instead of the two smaller filters because of the bio wheels? Plus running two of the same might be less expensive than three of different types. Any opinions one way or the other would be appreciated.

Both would work, if u'd rather use just 2 filters then i'd say go ahead and do that, or if u wanna stick with the filters u already have then thats fine too

It is very convenient, and looks a lot nicer, to run multiple of the same filter. I would run two emperor 400's, and hold onto the smaller filters for other tanks/quarantining.
