Not sure if this is where this goes or not. I checked the water in the new 75 gallon today. I set it up on Saturday. Added 3 filters one of which came from the 29 gal which has been cycled for months which are pumping a combined GPH of 820. Went ahead and put the two baby Oranda's (the Chocolate & orange) in as I don't want to do a fishless cycle. The water has clouded slightly but not bad. Bought the API Master Test Kit and got the following results:
Low PH 7.6
High PH 8.0
Ammonia .25
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 0
I have well water and it is hard. No water softener. I don't have a test for hardness.
Based on the above results should I do a water change and if so appx. how much? Never had this big of a tank before so really don't want to mess up with it if I can help it.

in a cycling tank change water daily ..the cloudiness may be from a bacteria bloom (the good kind that breaks down waste) even with a cycled filter you may still may have a bump in the cycle so just check water daily and keep ammonia as close to 0 as possible (have you ever test well water for ammonia??) I would test water source.it's always just a good idea eveen if it's not posing a problem it is just always good to test from time to time ..with a reading of .25 your tank may be doing a (mini cycle ) it may not take as long because of the cycled filter but treat it as if it is a full on cycle and test daily and waterchange accordanly( I always test right before a waterchange it tells me how much to change out

Thanks Heidi! I did run the ammonia test on my water just to be sure it wasn't coming from there but it came out 0. Didn't check the other stuff tho' as those seemed ok. So off I go to do a water change.

By the way, you only need to test low pH. The high pH is only needed when the color is off the chart.
