Chu Fizz
I was taking care of my garden, and to cut a long story short, it sparked my interest on some new ingredients I could try out with gel food. Or as a treat food. Or just something to nibble on.

Please tell me if you would recomment them or not, and if you have had any experiences. peepwallA.gif

- Kohlrabi (high in vitamin C, potassium, dietary fiber, antioxidants, and bioflavonoids)
- I've heard about using mint, but what about spearmint? Perhaps it is too strong? (helps with digestion and stomach problems)
- Lemon Balm (has antibacterial and antiviral properties)
- Cinnamon (I've heard about using paprika, so what about cinnamon? Aids digestion, high in antioxidant activity)
- Black Currants (very high in vitamin C, a good source of many nutrients, also high in bioflavonoids)
- Some soy product (tofu, plain soy milk? I've heard and read that it is good against SBD multiple times)
- Tea (white, green, red [caffeine-free]? Herbal? There's a lot of benefits with tea, but the tannins affect the iron absorption, so there would have to be citrus to bind them. I was just wondering if my fishie friends could join in with my love for tea) teehee.gif

If you have any unusual ingredients or foods you feed your fish, I'd be glad to know-- I love giving them something new. It's cute to watch too. heartpump.gif

Have you tried adding in Gerber Baby Mushed Food to your gel?
Chu Fizz
Yes, I do use baby food sometimes in my gel food. smile.gif

I far prefer the fresh veggies to those that have already been processed. But then, I never fed my babies anything but fresh that I prepared myself, so I am biased.

Soy is great. Fish - fish flakes, any fish food you have that you wish to use is great. I like many of the koi foods as long as I put them in gel to make them sink.

I have used Kohlrabi, leeks, bokchoy, green sugar snap peas, celery, parsley, lettuces, broccoli, melon, strawberries, blackberries, blueberries.

I avoid the strong seasonings. Cinnamon, mint, etc. do not sound like great additions -but, since I have never tried them, I do not know. Maybe they would love them. The fish do love garlic and chives!

Mhmm. I use the baby food if I need to make another batch, and I don't have the time. (I guess I'm obsessed about my feeding routine. rofl3.gif)

And good thing they like chives! I have a lot of it in my garden, so maybe I'll try it. tongue.gif
