Well, found this in the 29 gallon this morning. IF they hatch and If they don't get eaten guess I'll have new babies of a different sort, lol. Anything special I need to do?

Well, do you want them to hatch? If not, you can take a piece of tissue paper or a paper towel and just take the clutch off the glass and toss in in the trash. If you in fact want them to hatch the best thing to do is take the eggs out of the tank and incubate them seperately, that way the little ones won't be eaten by the fish in the tank. If you check out the part of the forums where research papers are submitted I have one in there about hatching apple snail eggs. If you can't find it let me know and I will dig around and post a link.

Thanks Lady D! I looked up your article and the eggs are now resting in an incubator cup. Since this is their first go thought it would be interesting to see if they will hatch.

As long as they don't dry out they should hatch and give you at least 50 little ones. It is very stressful to take care of then when they are just hatched, mainly because they are so so tiny! If the clutch is fertile and hatches for you make sure to be careful with filtration, because many a little one has been sucked up into a filter. I used to use fine pantyhose on the intake and it had to be cleaned every day.
Keep us updated on progress, and congrats!!

Would a sponge filter be better do you think?

Sponge filters should be fine, I don't know much about them but make sure that the suction is gentle and the little ones can't get sucked up in the sponge. They will probably end up crawling all over it, feeding off the sucked up pieces of food.

I agree, since they are so small and delicate a sponge filter would be the safest thing. And yes I'm sure they will be crawling all over it!! Please post pics when you can!

If they hatch I will be sure and post some pics.
