I wonder if giving the GF bread (pieces of white bread or plain bagel or non-seasoned bread crumbs) would be OK from time to time.
I know they like the Kretchmer's Wheat Germ I give them a couple times a week.... mostly because the small GF can swallow it easilt while the big boys are munching down the mini-ball shaped staple food.

I don't know about goldfish, but I know the tilapia, grass carp, and turtles at the club house love bread.

you can give your gold fish brown bread ( whole wheat flour bread) also white bread have very low fibre so this is not good for gold fish in my opinion.

One of our moderators, Mads, said that soaking a bit of bread in garlic juice is a great immune booster for fish.

Has anyone tried bread?

I soaked it in water to remove excess oil and soften it and feed them, my goldies love it... but is this a good food for them?

Hi there. I was wondering the same thing. There is a post further down that also talks about bread. It basically says white not good, whole wheat ok. Scroll down a little and see what it says.
Hope this helps.

My fish really love bread... but it's the tough round white bread... I soaked em first though

Of course gf will love bread, but the real question is, is it good for them. Unless it is unbleached flour, packed full of grains and has no salt or other additives, I wouldn't give gf bread. Bread isn't even good for humans unless it has all of those prerequisites, so it's not going to be any better for gf. First, I would say, in an emergency if you have absolutely nothing else to feed, you could feed bread, but don't make it a habit. But then, two, whereas it's very good and highly suggested that you fast gf at least one day a week, the argument that you fed bread because you had nothing else really doesn't work either. The wheat germ, however, would probably be good for them though, but I would suggest soaking it first so it doesn't swell in their little intestines and cause problems. Personally, I say just stay away from the bread, unless as mentioned above, it's been soaked in garlic and is being fed as an immune booster, but then it's the garlic and not the bread, that's the immunity booster. The bread is just the garlic transport.
