Well, my fish are alive and happy after my vacation smile.gif They were just hungry when I got back into town!

But I've got a compatibility question. There are some personal and work related things going on that is leaving my roommates and I with a slight possibility that we'll be moving away from this area within a few months-a year or so. And one thing I'll need to do if that happens is downsize on the number of tanks I've got.

So the compatibility. I've got a 60 gallon(standard) tank with my 2 fancy goldfish and an armored catfish. I've got a second tank with a crawdad in it. PROABLY a stupid question, but if we moved could I make a cove out of rocks for my crawdad and keep her with the goldfish? If she's got her territory to defend and a good stash of food will she end up going after the goldfish? Or will they end up keep going into her little spot and end up getting attacked because they get too close to her? How about the catfish? I know he wants to hide more than anything else. Would his armour protect him or would ge be killed anyway?

My crawdad's tank or one of my other 10 gallons with 3 of my bettas in it would be going if/when we move and I really don't want to give up any of them, but if I can't keep them together I'm not going to try it.

The goldfish will inevitably end up crawdad lunch. Absolutely not!

The armored cat would probably end up being eaten or at least attacked. Crawdads are best kept by themselves or in a species tank.

Crawdad will attack the GF, no doubt.

That's why I asked first smile.gif I think that if that "if we move" happens that I'll just find a shelf somewhere that I can put an extra 10 gallon until I have room in another tank.

Thank you!

Post some pics please.gif-- I've never seen a crawdad before. It must be a mean little thing to be able to eat goldies and armored catfish.

a crawdad is another name for a crayfish, i think. like a smallish lobster. big claws!!

That's mine. I've got 2, but am trying to find another home for the second one because she has started to attack my little one mad1.gif They get so,e pretty big claws.

Wow, that's pretty cool. Hope all goes well with your move!

We "aren't" moving though. Sometimes the boyfriend goes through phases of saying he's going to move, or not going to move or whatnot. I have no idea if he's going to want to or try to, but I figure it can't hurt to ask NOW instead of waiting until we find out we ARE moving and then not be able to get things sorted out quickly enough smile.gif

i had 2 crawdads once. the bigger ate the littler and they are disgusting dirty. he would "cut up" his food, they eat live fish, and stash it all over the tank.

i finally let him go near me in a stock tank.

yes, they would eat any fish or thing that moves. bugs, worms, fish, etc. its weird how they "butcher" tho...and save it.
