Nice looking plants!! biggrin.gif

I notice you have java moss....do you still like having it? I had some for several years but I finally got fed up with it and pulled it all out. Stuff kept spreading like crazy, wanting to cover up other plants too. A word of caution....I had a female swordtail get caught up in the stuff one night and she died from the stress (at least that's what I think, as she was completely entangled in the moss when I got up in the morning)
Of course it has it's good side too. Neon tetras, really any tetras love to spawn over the stuff....I once had lemon tetras spawn over it and the eggs fell into a really dense part and amazingly, one of their fry managed to survive in there!

Thanks for sharing Koko! Beautiful tank! I love how the Java moss covered the driftwood. What kind of fishies live there? Are you adding CO2?

Absolutely beautiful tank Koko! (sighs with envy).

I love the contrast of the bright green plants against the dark gravel - gives a really moody look. smile.gif

Thank you Guys. This tank I have been working on for years. Still not satisfied but at the moment this will work. smile.gif

druel.gif KOKO,

I love your tank.

I have a 65-gallon tank and would love to have real plants in it. Actually, I tried, but algea (green when I use both lights and brown if I use one light) grows on everything including the plants. I have 3 goldfish and 1 bristlenose pleco. I use an Eheim 2026 canister filter and an Emporer 400 HOB filter.

I can scrub the algae off of my plastic plants, but not the real ones. I have only been changing my water (20%) and vacuuming the gravel once a week. It sounds like I need to do it more often. I'll try it and let you know if it helps.

Also, I have always wondered, do you vacuum the gravel in a planted tank or is the high filtration and frequent water changes enough?

Thanks...
koko
I do spot gravel siphon in there. I also have 3 watts per gal in that tank too. That seem to have stopped most of it. I do get green algae but I dont mind that at all.smile.gif

I keep the nitrates down to 10ppms most of the time. Also triming the plants with bad leaves helps out alot.

Oh and on othe thing with this tank is that it has a UV thing wich helps the free floating aglae and I have noticed the brown algae too smile.gif

Oh and Welcome back I was wondering were you went to wav.gif
koko
Black water extrate is actually liquid Peat moss makes my water softer since the GH in my area is about 300ppms blink.gif

Thanks Koko.

So, does the green algae grow on your plants and if it does, do you scrub it off?
koko
I get alittle bit of it but My oto gets into the leaves and cleans them off, sometimes to well and I get holes in the leaves, But Over all I have had great luck with them smile.gif

Koko, I am in awe. That tank looks amazing. You have inspired me. LOL in a million years mine will never look like that, but I think I will try a few more live plants and see what I end up with.

Beautiful, simply beautiful.
