I bought this sad little betta from Wally World a week ago. He had these big black eyes but he was so tiny, pale, and thin and just sat in the bottom of his container. I thought to myself he is probably dying. I just felt so bad for him so I took him with me and put him in a little 5 gal tank. At least he would be in a nice environment with somebody who cares about him. He sat in the corner for a few days and I just dreaded getting up in the morning, thinking he would be gone. When I dropped in food he would not respond, but then one morning he did come up and eat. He perked right up within a few days and is now growing like a weed, swimming all over the tank. He is developing a beautiful baby blue color and is extremely friendly now. I'm just so thrilled that it brings tears to my eyes. I named him Angel since it seems to fit him. He'll go over to a new 10 gal tank in a few days and he will be on my desk. I think he is so gorgeous!! I wish I had take a pic of him when I got him. You counldn't even tell it is the same fish.

Congrats on the rescue!

congrats on the new little boy. He is quite cute. I would go slowly with the moving him to the 10 gallon. I would leave him in the 5 gallon for awhile. The reason he made have been hiding was because he went from such a small dirty container to the big tank. He is do lucky you rescued him. He should be blowing bubble nests in no time

I applaud you for taking in a betta! There needs to be more people who are willing to rescue those little guys from those deathcups.

He really does look stunning!

I'd have to agree with Bettaqueen on waiting a little bit before moving him over to a ten gallon. I have two rescue bettas and I had to move them very slowly to larger tanks over time. Some bettas, when put under stress, become fin-nippers.

Good luck with the little guy, and congrats! It's obvious that he's being well taken care of. smile.gif

Good for you for rescuing that little guy! He is quite pretty; I've not seen coloring like that before. Congrats! I am sure he is very happy in his new (big) home. Do you have a pic of his whole tank? Would love to see it. exactly.gif

Thanks everybody! heartpump.gif

He sure is a lively little guy. He is getting more blue and I also think he is a crowntail. He swims like he is training for the olympics. biggrin.gif I can't believe that little man was almost gone. I'm just glad he has another chance in life.

I'm deciding on how to decorate his new enclosure. The tank he is in is just a 5gal plastic tank that I use as a hospital tank, but now it has a small crack and I notice is leaking just a tiny bit, so I'll be moving him sooner than I had planned.
