Since it would be harder to dose declorinator for a 1 gallon bucket, I'd do it during waterchanges and fill a couple trays or a few of those small tubs. If you don't have an ice-maker in your freezer and have to use ice trays anyway, it would probably be a good idea to get the fishies their own color to avoid confusion
I don't have a problem with the tanks over-heating or anything (I don't think it's even gotten past 75* F here) so I don't have any need for them.
Wouldn't it be easier than a frozen water bottle?
It might sound stupid, though. It was just a thought. What do you guys think?
