I just got a big 'ole Sword Plant. I planted it in some potting soil in a good sized pot (it even had two smaller plants so I separated them & potted them two! Buy one get 2 free!!
Three of the leaves where broken so I removed them. I am wondering if the leaves can be rooted to start more plants?

Depends on which species of swordplant you have. According to my aquatic plant book, roughly half of the plants in the sword family can propigate from advantagous plantlets, meaning the leaves could grow into a new plant. The other half need to have part of the rhizome (root), or a runner to develop into new plants.
Find a place you could plant it where curious fishies wont disturb it and see if any of your leaves grow roots.
