Fiona my orange oranda has a small cut on the left side of her wen. It looked like a small dark dot so I had thought it was perhaps a piece of food granule stuck to her head as she often kamakazies down ward toward her food when I feed her. Unfortunately I handled her and touched the wen with a Qtip which revealed a small smudge of blood. We then took a picture with the camera and blew it up which definitely shows a very tiny cut.
How may I best treat her so as to keep infection/bacterai away?

She is in a 29 gallon tank with 2 other smaller goldfish and a Eheim 2236 Ecoline filter.

Thanks in advance.

I would salt and keep water very clean that is the very first thing i would do also dip a q tip in peroxcide (spell check rolleyes.gif )and apply to the sore to clean it( but just once ) smile.gif

Will do the water change & salt now, but really use hydrogen perioxide? Fiona will probably have a fit seeing another Q tip coming her way... krazy.gif

the salt and the peroxide are a good idea. After the peroxide on a qtip you can apply a little neosporin with a qtip to the wound

You could also add melafix smile.gif
