IT is the same Praziquantel that is in the Pond PRazi - only packaged in smaller packets so you do not have to spend as much or buy as much at one time.
That said, Prazi powder is, indeed, difficult to dissolve in water. It should NEVER - I repeat NEVER be mixed with alchohol of any nature. Alcohol and fish do not mix. It is not even necessary to mix cloveoil with vodka, as once was said, when euthanizing a fish. Do NOT use it with a fish you want to keep.
Prazi is best mixed by adding it to a lidded container and adding water and shaking it vigourously for some time. I use a plastic quart container from take-out Chinese food. I have a silly song that I sing - it takes about 3+ minutes to sing - and I shake for all I am worth during that time. Yup - there will be a lot of particals of undissolved Prazi when you are done, but that is fine. As long as it is broken up well into a fine mist of particles, just pour it into the tank. They will dissolve on their own with the currents of the tank within a few hours. If the fish eat them, that is fine, also. It is a common medication made for internal/systemic use, too.
AS far as treatment, I have read and also found through my microscope that the Prazi seems to do the most kill-down of flukes within the first 24 hours, with some residual effect for the following 24 hours. That information, combined with the life cycle of the fluke, has led me to believe that a treatment of Prazi powder every 48 hours for 3 treatments will kill off the
average infestation of flukes in the
average tank. There are some populations of flukes that are more resistant - and some populations that are much larger than average. A tank with a gravel base can never be fully cleaned of flukes but you can control them nicely.
It is not necessary to do a water change between treatments. I nearly always do, for every water change means that fewer free swimming juvenile flukes you are dealing with - and fresher cleaner water for an ailing fish..... both very good things.
GOod luck - and may all your flukes die a quick and miserable death.
