HI,
I am a goldfish owner and have been for 3 yrs now. My goldfish has never done this before but is hiding in the bottom corner. He goes back to the same corner. He will swim around and eat during feeding time. He is in a 29 gallon tank with himself and a algea eater. I have had to treat him before for cloud eye. Which was about 4 months ago. It has cleared up and has no symptoms of it returning. I don't notice any spots or white patches on him. his fins look a little frailed. I am thinking to treat him with a fungus and bacterial medication. Do you think this is the right choice?

Hi and welcometo.jpg

I would definitely not treat your fish with medications until you know what's wrong with him. This type of shotgun approach can do more harm than good. In order for the moderators around here to help you make a diagnosis, please answer as many of the questions at the top of the page as possible. This information is very important. If you don't have a water test kit, take a sample of your water to the pet store and have them test it for you. Have them write down the exact values for each parameter (pH, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and KH), then report back here.

What type of algae eater do you have in your tank? Common plecos are not good tankmates for goldfish and can injure or kill them.

Good luck!

welcome to koko's biggrin.gif sorry you are having troubles with your fish ..can you fill out the questions as much as you can in the white box above ..testing water is essential to goldfish as they toxify water rather quickly and if you do not know where where water paremeters are.. mixing meds with bad water can be more harm than good ..I noticed you had a algae eater ..a pleco?? these do not do good with goldies they have a tendency to suck the slime coat off the goldfish while it sleeps at night ..leaving the goldfish open to infection and diseases..right now I would do a 50-75% waterchange and see if that perks him up ..keep water pristine until a mod can give you further advice..good luck with your fish ..my fingers are crossed for you smile.gif

Just as everyone above me has said, please fill out the questions in the box.

And if by algae eater, you mean plecostomas, that could have something to do with your fish hiding in the corner.
