Well i read in several articles that platies and other livebearers usually spawn alot but i've had my female platy for like 3 weeks now maybe more. I've seen the males trying to mate with her at the beginning but still no fry. How come? I've been wanting fry ever since i started keeping fish and i cant even get livebearers to spawn!!!

How are the temps?

Have you been feeding them a high protein diet?

It takes longer than 3 weeks for platty fry to develop. She is probably pregnant, and the fry are developing inside.

ok that makes sense. Alex I feed them fish flakes and freezedried bloodworms every day. Is there any way to tell if she's pregnant? I read once that u could see a black spot near the anal fin but i cant see anything. She does look fat but that could also b cuz she's getting more food now than at the petstore, she's grown like crazy too, when i bought her she looked almost like a little fry, i got one of the "juveniles" but now she's almost the same size as the other 2 and that growth happened in about a week!

The temp is usually around 78-81
