I have 2 african dwarf frogs in my 10gal with 2 mystery snails...

boy do they like to hide, they are hard to find...i've lost track of one and have no idea where he's hidden... but he'll re-appear somewhere eventually... they've done it to me a couple times already...

anyway... they don't seem very active, but they are nocturnal from what I've read...

my question is about their food... what can they eat? freeze dried blood worms don't sink to the bottom... they float... at least the one's that I have do...they looked at them but didn't swim to the top to get them... how should I feed with those? will they swim to the top and eat like that if they're hungry, or do they absolutely have to have food on the bottom of the tank to eat? and how do I get freeze dried blood worms there since the ones that I have float?

my second question is... why did my frog nip at my snail for a second? did it think it was food because of poor eyesight? they aren't naturally aggressive are they? I thought that was just the clawed frogs, and they definitely aren't the clawed frogs...

Well I have an African clawed frog (the big cousin of yours) and I can tell you what I know about them. Some will eat from the surface, others the bottom. You can buy reptile food sticks, reptomin are really good. They float at first but will sink eventually, my frog loves them. As for nipping the snail...frogs can actually be very agressive eaters. If they think it's food, they'll try to shove it in their mouth!

i had 2, now have 1. She's actually really active during the day since her partner has died. I feed them those frog and tadpole bites, and occasionally frozen bloodworms but i havent done that in months so i really should do that today!

I don't know anything about frogs, but here's a tip to get your bloodworms to sink---> Take a pinch of the bloodoworms, dip them in the tank water, and squeeze them so all the air comes out. Let them soak for a little bit (30 seconds or less), then poke them down into the tank!

they're in a 10 gal with a filter... I read they are sensitive to vibration... should I turn on my bubbler for the two frogs and two snails, or should I just leave it off?
Chrissy_Bee
I'd leave it off. They don't like water disturbance, it can really bother their sensitive lateral line. Frogs can get plenty of oxygen through their skin and breathing at the surface so the bubbler isn't needed.

My frog has a small elite hush 5 filter and she does just fine with it

so no bubbler for the frogs? just the filter... i'll change that...

as for the feeding, what foods sink? i got some freeze dried bloodworms but they float and i have to dip my hand in the tank to feed them and stuff, it's a hassle...

the frogs wont need any air pumped into the tak cuz they take in air at the surface. U can feed them frozen bloodworms and frog and tadpole bites. Thats wat mine gets.
