hello everybody!
i'm a new one in this forum and need your experiences. i have 70-80 frys. they have been hatched 3 days ago. and i want to know that;
-they are laying on the ground and sometimes they swim a little then lay on the ground again. so is it normal or not?
-i gave a little egg yolk but it made a mess. i think it was eary and i gave too much. how can i clean the tank without siphoning the frys.
-can i use sera micron now for the frys instead of egg yolk
-can i use brine shrimp for 3 days old frys.
- any experience to do for the fry after this time

thank you very much for your kindy answers...

Hello palavradan and welcome to kokos exactly.gif !
Congratulations on the hatching of your fry biggrin.gif !

It is quite normal for the fry to spend the first few days struggling to get out of their egg sacs and then another day climbing slowly to the top of the water to fill their air sacs with air. They are very slow at first, very, very slow. Until they reach the top and fill their swimbladder.

You don't really need to feed fry until you see them swimming freely around the tank. For the first few days they are eating the egg sac that they were born in and this is great nutrition for them for the first few days.

If you have made a mess with egg yolk (I have done the same) you should syphon it out. You will need a syringe or a very small tube attached to a baster or syringe. Do you have something you can use that does not cause waves and current?

Baby brine shrimp is excellent food for fry. As soon as you see them swimming freely you can start feeding. I feed my fry 4 or 5 times a day- tiny weeny amounts- and be ready to syphon out any leftovers to keep their water pristene.

thank you very much for your answer. the syringe is a good idea and i'm gonna use it to clean up. they started to swim very slowly as you sad. i'm going to use the brine shimb as soon as possible but i wonder can i use the "sera micron" or is it eary?

thank you again...

If you can only get brine shrimp and not the babybrine shrimp then yes I suggest you go ahead and feed any tiny powder like fry food - sera micron is one kind I suppose.

thank you again for your kindly answer.
i can get the baby brine shrimp but sometimes i have to use sera micron because of time. i have to prepare the brine shrimp staff and wait for a 24 hours you know. but i'm working in nights sometimes and it is difficult to arange the time. i was worriying about the size of the frys that if they can eat the sera micron or not. but i'm going to use it, also the brine shrimp.
thanks...

I see. You know, if you are worried it is too big you can crush some in a plastic bag with a rolling pin or bottle. That will make it powder like and a good size for them. Like their parents, they will eat it, if they can fit it in their tiny mouths smile.gif

hello again,

my frys are very well with your suggestions. thank you. but i have more questions if you have time to answer.

- do i need to use a biostarter for example "sera nitrivec" for the nitrogen circle. they are in a new tank and they have fresh water also i change the water as an amount of %10-20 every day. maybe i can use the a little aquarium water for the fry tank?

- when can i use a filter?

- do the fry need extra light?

thanks again...
