They both side-view ranchus, mate.
If you say they're Japanese-bred, then it's likely that they have TVR parents, however they exhibit poor TVR characteristics such as thin caudal peduncle, poor wen & funtan (cheeks), small & closed tails, and short heads. I myself is of the opinion that they look-Chinese bred.
As SVRs, they're not bad, but certainly not outstanding. They should have deeper bodies, more upright tail, & bigger wen.

I love ranchus. I found one the other day that was so cute, but I didn't have room for him. hopefully that store will get more after I get my next tank.

They are longer versions of side view ranchus. However because of their japanese ancestry, they do have top view ranchu characteristics, in fact all japanese ranchus do. It is just very recently that the japanese are breeding side view ranchus. Also remember that top view ranchus only come in the following colors; red, red and white, or all white, with red and white being the most desired. The japanese do not recognize black or calico as a true ranchu
