Do goldfish spawn at least once a year or so even if u dont condition them to breed or anything? Cuz i've never had any fish eggs, ever! And I really want some fry but my mom wont let me breed them so Im waiting for something to happen naturally but so far nothing has happened!!!

I didn't condition mine ..it just happened ..but I bought her full of eggs ..and a few days later..I had eggs ..now my newest fish is full of them .I just know it !!!..so there is a low pressure coming in and I'm gonna do a large waterchange and a few degrees lower to see if she'll drop them ..I do have eager males but she is in Q..so I can't put them together just yet...

They don't always span but if they do they could do it once or more

i sure hope they'll spawn sometime! I've been keeping fish for almost 2 years now and I thought they would've spawned by now! lol well actually i think i had some eggs in my tetra tank awhile ago at least they looked like eggs but Ish ate all of them except 3 but nothing ever hatched so i dunno if they were actually eggs....Sparky has been pretty fat though recently lol

Even some of the best breeders and "conditioners" in the goldfish world cannot guarantee that a fish or a group of fish will spawn each and every year - or even spawn ever! One of the prettiest fish I knew never did - and others wait for years. There was one perfectly gorgeous Bristol Shubie who waited 7 years and then, out of the blue, produced a wonderful set of babies - with many winners in the group. Go figure.

I guess what we learn from this is that all we can do is try to do our best. The fish and Mother Nature take care of the rest.
