Hikari pellets or Omega One pellets for your goldfish, which one do you think would be best?

ive had my blackmoor for about 8 months now and he has refused to grow at all.
i've been feeding him hikari oranda gold pellets and bloodworms/random vegetables occasionally.

i just recently introduced "HBH super soft spirulina" pellets to him a week or so ago.
i wanted to try a different kind, and was debating between

Omega One goldfish pellets
or
hikari goldfish lionhead

i chose the lionhead because theyre the only sinking ones i could find made by hikari
and my fishie eats them best when he can scavenge for them, he doesnt usually see them when theyre floating

so, which food would be most beneficial for my fish to grow?

Hi there, this question is seemwhat geographical, depending on whether both brands are actually available where you live in the world. I use Hikari products becuase they are readily available in the UK now whereas as far as I know Omega One are not currently.

I use Hikari Lionhead and Hikari Saki Goldfish and have had wonderful results in terms of health, growth, colour and water quality. I'd definately suggest givng the Hikari Lionhead a go smile.gif

Thanks for the suggestion, im also leaning towards hikari, but was just alittle hesitant because ive used a different hikari food before with no growth results.

and location is not a problem because i will be ordering them online.

Hello smile.gif

I used the Omega One pellets for about 6 months or so. My fish grew wonderfully and I had no complaints.
I think the food reached it's shelf life though, after a few months. My fish was almost always in a corner, admiring herself in the mirror rolleyes.gif and I thought she was just lonely. But a few weeks ago, my daughter and son in law came back from a trip to Japan and surprised me with some Hikari dandelion goldfish food. It doesn't sink, so I have to soak it (then sort of squish it so it soaks up water) and then it'll sink. My fish has been SO incredibly active with this new food, she's go go go all the time. (moving wise... not "waste" wise unsure.gif just to clarify!)

So I think both foods are good - but I'd recommend the Hikari. exactly.gif

I would go with both. I have about a dozen different foods that I feed - either alone or in combination in a gel food. The fish thrive.

The Hikari sinking Lionhead pellets are one of my favorites for growing out large fry and small fish. They are full of good protien and sink nicely. I usually avoid any floating flakes - with the exception of GC Seafood Flakes - which, if wet, sink nicely. These are great for good growth, too. They incorporate into gel nicely, also.

Little Peanut
I would go for Omega One

I have been using Omega One and found out that the denser the pellets are the more likely they are to sink so if you pet Omega One Pellets in a bit of water then squeeze them they will sink.

I use a mix of the two brands, plus some other brand of pellet, Topfin I think, and freeze dried plankton as their high protein food. I of course suppliment with Omega one flakes, and peas, dandelion leaves for their veggies.
