hi everyone...
im planning on bringing my fish inside this winter and my 30 gallon tank is nowhere near big enough to house all dozen fish. Im planning on buying a kids plastic pool that is 5 feet in diameter and i an put about 1 foot of water in it. I will have an aquarium filter plus my old pond filter(way to small for pond, only about 200 gph) pumping in this new set up. It will have a big box frame tiled on al sides, and it will sit in the far corner of my room, with a nice lamp about to keep it warm. I plan on putting 2 koi in it for the summer and then bringing hopefully 7 or 8 of the larger GF inside this winter and giving the small ones away. The pool will hold 140 gallons and thats about 4 inches from the top. It will be elevated approximately a foot so it can be vacuumed as i can imagine, 10 goldfish will have a lot of waste lol.
So now that i ranted on my idea, im wondering what i could use to paint the liner a nice light blue. Its got little starfish etc on it now and thatd be a little tacky haha. Anybody got any ideas for safe paint?thanks

Not nearly big enough for koi. Minimum should be 1000 gallons and many say 3000 gallons. They would also tend to jump out.

koi are pond fish, and with a proper habitat can grow to be a couple feet long. Also, they are more efficient swimmers than fancie goldfish, so can really use a lot of space.

More like 3 feet long.

zildjian, bringing pond fish in during the winter season only is okay, but even a single mature koi will need all the space you can afford to allow it to grow well.

Have a google around for koi club sites and you'll see how much water they need.

Most koi keepers that bring in their koi have LARGE tanks, 1000 or more gallons, to overwinter. I overwintered some in my greenhouse this winter..in a 12' diameter intex pool that is 30" deep!
