I have had my Goldfish for 9 Months now nearly 10 i have allways fead him goldfish food.Iam thinking of feeding him somthing diffrent like pea's.

Should i or do you think i should wait untill he is alot older ?

How do you go about Cooking them ? i take it you have to let them cool down before you give it too the fish ?

and is a full round pea a bit big for a fish to eat do you not have to break it up or will the fish be too eat it all at once ?

I would say definately feed your fish peas. Here is a really good thread for you to read about it. biggrin.gif http://www.kokosgoldfish.invisionzone.com/...showtopic=52315

My fish love peas, I buy frozen unsalted peas and put them in a small glass, pour boiling water over them and let them cool. Then I deshell them and cut them into smaller pieces with my nails or squish them up and feed them to my goldies.

The peas are in a skin.....she means cook them and pop them out of the skin they are in, the fish cannot digest it. If the fish is small, then cut it up in little pieces and then feed it to them. smile.gif

You have to microwave/ pour boling water/ simmer it in a pot so as to let the frozen/ uncooked peas soften... then once it is soft enough, make sure it is not boiling hot when you feed it... and let it cool first before you feed them. The outer shell of the peas (transparent) is hard to digest so remove it by simply squeezing the pea to get the core out... Usually the pea core will split in half anyway and if your fish's mouth is big enough you can feed it half... or if too big just use your hand to break it into smaller pieces.

I just feed them out of the frozen bag. I cut them with an xacto type knife and drop them in. I don't know if they are precooked or not. By the time I'm done cutting them they are pretty much thawed already anyway.

why cook them at all?

seems my goldies eat them just fine. Just like with us it would seem raw would be better. They don't cook what they eat in a lily pond

I am from the UK too. I buy a frozen bag and tip a few peas in a glass. Then pour boiling water over them (just half fil the glass). When the water has cooled I take out the pea and squeeze it so the two halfs pop out, I have two big fish and two tiny fish, so for the tiny fish it break the half up into very small bits and they really do love it.

I wouldnt say what I do cooks the peas, more just makes sure they are thawed and a bit softer so that I can break them into smaller bits.
