fire in the fishtank
So I got a new 30 gallon tank (well, a 33.66 gallon tank as dan in aus pointed out to me) and I'm planning on rescuing my friend's remaining fish, a black moor called 'Inky'. Actually, I think she said he's gone orange now so he could do with a new name. As some may know/remember, my fishkeeping and membership of the forum began when I rescued her other fish Dollar, who unfortinately died of Ich sometime late in February.

Anyhoo, not long ago she was begging me to take Inky off her hands but I couldn't because of lack of space. Now I have space!! I want 2 more fish to go into the 33 gal, but what is compatible with a large-ish black moor?

Well, it depends on the moor. Some telescopes are powerful swimmers with good eyes, and some are slow with incredibly poor eyesight. It's usually considered a bad match to have a good swimmer (fantail, oranda, ryukin) with a poor swimmer with bad eyesight (telescope, celestial, bubble-eye).

Another moor/telescope would fair well; or if your rescue moor is especially proficient, maybe an oranda (they can develop poor eyesight due to wen growth, btw).

I'm not sure about how well this black moor is. I remember the condition Dollar was in when I got her, not so good. My friend didn't take much care for her, I doubt she takes much care of the moor. He could have problems. I'll find out when I get him, but if he turns out to be a bit of a slow bimbler how about a ranchu? I've taken quite a liking to these guys wub.gif If Inky is a good swimmer and can see well I'll get another oranda or another moor

Well I guess your conundrum is solved mate! Congrats on your new fish; I hope they get on well together.

A ranchu could work. I have my 1.5 year old black moor Boggles with my 10 or 11 month old ranchu Pip and they get along fine. They seem like the best of buddies. This is probably my favorite pic of them
