I very much doubt they would unless you have tried very hard to get the optimum condtions for them. Most people I know of who breed plecs, have to try to recreate natural condtions and they are in a species tank. Maybe commons are easier (if yours is a common).

Have you sexed them?

youd need adult plecos first. also I heard its next to impossible to breed in tanks. goldfish are far easier to breed. minnows breed like rabits

Has anyone got plecos to breed?
i read that it was near impossible to breed in tank
and that you need to have caves and logs and
even then it was difficult to breed them
also aren't they suppose to be really hard to sex?

I dont think its possible to sex plecos at all. And its also nearly impossible to get them to breed in captivity. I think a lot of the ones that are sold are wild caught.

I don't know the percentage, but some of the plecos at the LFS are wild caught, and some are bred in ponds right here in Florida.
Some plecos can be sexed like the bristlenose....the male has more bristles on his snout. For a more detailed account go to http://www.planetcatfish.com and read some of the articles there. Very interesting!!
