Full Version: Peeled Back The Cover

The swimming pool/would-be pond finally reached 50 degrees today, so I peeled back a portion of the cover by the steps. Didn't see nary a fish. Went inside and got some wheat germ and spread it on the water. First came the little guys, at least 50 of them maybe an inch and a half long. A moment or two later, the 3, 4,5 and 6 inchers came (about 20 or so). Made my wheat germ pancake (1 egg plus sufficient wheat germ mixed to a heavy texture, then 44 seconds or so in the microwave. Cool off in the fridge for a while). The fish went at it as if they hadn't eaten for months, except for, perhaps, one another. looks like about 2/3 of them made it through the winter, maybe a bit more.
Now come the hard part... getting the filter system rebuilt and operating.

How exciting!! biggrin.gif I'm glad that you were greeting with so many fish! Sounds like they fared pretty well! Maybe more will come out once they realize where the food is coming from. smile.gif

I'll try to get a picture of them at the lunch counter.

I am glad you got a greeting by most of your fish, Oliver - I know you were worried that too many had died. Finally, spring is here! happydance.gif
