After my Oranda died of swim bladder disease I asked my local fish store about a sinking food so that my new goldie wouldn't be gulping so much air at the top. I feed him 2 or three wafters a day. Is this a good diet?

I'm going to be adding peas a couple times a week to help his digestion.

BTW if you read the reviews of the wafers at the bottom the reviewer says she adds them to tomato soup and gives them to her kids unsure.gif

Uh oh, don't give Trico any ideas wink.gif lol.

I think a lot of people would say that variety in diet is good for GF. Wafers should be alright, but they should also get some protein and veggies (you said you feed peas, so that's good). Have you tried hikari lionhead? Those pellets sink rather than float. I have the mini pellets, not sure if they come in a bigger pellet size if your GF is larger. You can also pre-soak flakes so that they sink in the water. I just kinda take a pinch of flakes, dip my fingers underwater and release, and my fish snatch em up as they fall. Gel foods are another option, but I haven't tried making that yet, so other members will have to advise you on that.

I agree with pumpkin, you need to make sure you have some sort of staple food to ensure they get a well-rounded nutrition.

(algae for soup) I'd rather buy human-grade spirulina then add one of those wafers to my soups. Wafers in general tend to have a lot of wheat byproducts in them.
