wow its been awhile ive been here and this site looks all differnt to me lol anyways i came here to talk to you guys about my betta so let me tell u the story ...last week thrusday I was doing a 100% water change for my male betta so like usually i always put him in a small container and clean his aquarium out but I always use to keep an eye on him and i always use to come and talk to him but this time I was just trying to clean his aquarium out fast and get him back in. Anyways i was trying to finish and i just went in da kitchen to check on him when I went in da kitchen he was lying on the table outside the container i just started screaming i could not believe he jumped out the bowl hes never done anything like that b4 and my mom ran in da kitchen and she lift him up with the net and a paper and put him back in the water after a couple of minutes he came back to me and I was sooo happy lol anyways thats my story. my question is should I do anything to him since i think some of his slime coating came off? i was feeding him some anti-bacterial food 10 days cux of his fin rot and i just finish his 10 days 2day. i did salt his tank with 2 tablespoon of salt since hes in a 10 gallon with a heater of 79 F. should I feed him the anti bacterial food longer? should I do or worry about anything else?

Welcome back! I am sorry to hear that you betta jumped out of the container! He should be just fine, his slime coat will rebuild itself, just make sure that you keep his water pristine and I would use stress coat, or a dechlorinator with some sort of additive for slime coat production. You shouldn't have to continue the medicated food run just because of this, and the clean water should help clean up his fin rot too.

I forget the amount of salt that I used to put in my betta tanks... I stopped using it years ago, I didn't really think it gave that much benefit. Someone else will come along shortly and give you a better comment about the salt level of your water.

Thanks for responding smile.gif well i do have a filter in there and i never use anythign in his water i ususlly leave his water in a jug for a week b4 using it.can i use the stress coat with the salt i have in his tank? is all the stress coat the same or I have to buy a seprate one for betta's?

Most stress coat solutions are the same, though I think TetraAquaSafe has special betta formulas, at least a water conditioner. There is also Aquarium Pharmaceuticals Splendid Betta Bettafix remedy for around $4 at your LPS. Personally I use Seachem StressGuard or Kordon Methylene Blue.
