Full Version: Koko, I've Always Wanted To Know...
Koko, I was wondering what gave you the idea to start this site up? And what it was like in the really early days - did you have many posters to begin with or did you have to answer most of the posts yourself?! Which posters were around when it first started? And which forums did you initially have?

oh i wanna know too! you know what i remember from "my early days on kokos"? that emma was the very first person to respond to my topic-and i remember thinking "well that was really nice of her to get back to me so quick!" and i would always look for emmas posts cause she was my favorite then (now EVERYONES my favorite! (sorry emma hehe!))
i wonder if in the beginning, it was like me here in the middle of the night. asking questions, and then responding to myself.

That's true - no matter how this site has changed over the years, there's always lovely Koko looking after it. That's comforting.

Emma was the first person to help me, too. And every day when I would write another update, everyone else probably thought "when will this girl stop posting??" but Emma answered all my questions.
I hope Koko hasn't answered because she's taking some time off to relax! But what are the chances?

Definately - I have just joined this website, after keeping Goldfish for just over a year now. I am addicted - it is such a great hobby, and a hobby which is made far easier with the efforts of Koko and this great website. I also thank the loyal members to - because their contribution is also invaluable. Thanks again Koko!

Well this site started out in about 96 or so. I actually had a WebTV and wanted to see if I could make a site and it was called back then "kokopalee's Animal Site" it had information on how to raise Cockatiels, goldfish, and photos of my cats.
Then I decided to concentrate when I saw that there were so many bird sites up and not enough goldfish sites up, and if there were not much information about them.
So the site moved to the kokopalee's Goldfish World. After about a year I got a computer and started really hard on the information and got a camera and took photos. When my fish Samuel died I almost wanted to kill the site but hubby told me to do it for Sammy and for other goldfish lovers out there.
After some time I got a message board up and I did have to answer all the questions by myself for many years. I had many different boards before the Ezboard account.
The basic forums I had at that time was general, disease, and tank information.
The people I can remember from way back then was.......Leafdy, Rachel, Kevkoi, moochie, and TonyTank were the early ones.
The site just grew and grew till what you see now
Most of the site was done cause of the fact that there wasn't any goldfish sites out there and that I had seen that there wasn't any good information in the LFS. Also that when I had a problem with two of my fish the LFS didn't know what to do and so I started to think maybe a group of people can help each other and figure out the right way of taking care of these delicate fish that every LFS think that they are junk fish....
that is soooo neat!!!! i never knew kevkoi and rachel and moochie were from all the way back when!
Well, you have made a wonderful site indeed, koko! Your site has helped me greatly, as I read much more than I post (I'm a quiet one). It's funny that you talk about cockatiels, I have one here that loves to watch my fish, in fact he will screech until he gets to see them!

I am amazed on how big this is now. Beleave me at one point in my life I was going to shut it down. I was very stressed and people being rude I wanted to close it, but with of hubby and a couple of really good friends its still here......HERE TO STAY!!

I am one of the later members to join (although now, there are loads of users who joined after me). I had a very sick fishie that I had no idea what to do with.
Lachfa and Wynkin were the first people to help me out, and although I lost poor Hercules, I gained 2 friends. I thought that if people had helped me out, when they had never heard of me, then I would do the same for others. So now, when anyone has problems that I can answer... I do. It's a fantastic place, and there is ALWAYS someone online, no matter what time of day or night.

That's right Mike - You joined in to help me when we got to the stage of Herc not eating for 3-4 days. Thanks again, as you helped to re-assure me that I did all I could, and Herc didn't suffer!

This really is just such a great site. Its got load of info on goldies and everyone's so helpful and just out for the love of their little (and not so little) aquatic pets
Hey Koko, actually me and Florissa came around long before Moochie and Kevkoi and Tony tank! The others I remember from back then are Ranchu (not Ranchugirl), Lahela (I miss her lots), Blondie1010, Bourbonsnlacz… it goes on and on. Sad how some people are so active for so long, then just leave… I remember in the early days there werent very many different forums, so I could very quickly go through and answer every unanswered question! Now it takes me days to even get through all the forums! I joined a little over two years ago and am so proud of the way this site has grown so much!
