Hey everybody,
I just don't seem to be able to figure out what I want to do with my tanks. My poor goldies have gone from bowls to 10 gallon to 29 gallon to 55 gallon tanks; from by themselves to sharing the tropical tank, etc. Right now they are with the tropicals in the 55 gallon, but I want to get them out of there. I have 6 livebearers (3 mollies and 3 swordtails), plus 3 glasscats in my 29 gallon tank currently. I had been using my 10 gallon as a hamster cage, but just moved them out and fixed it back up as a fish aquarium! Now, what I think I will do is put the 2 goldies in the 29 gallon, and move the nine fish that are currently in the 29 gallon into the 10 gallon. Would that be too crowded?
Hope this isn't too confusing! Thanks for any input. The reason I am keeping those nine out of the 55 gallon is because they did not do well in there, and I am experimenting with making their tank a little brackish.
Thanks again! idont.gif Flowers.gif post-8-1043925530.gif

It all depends on how big they are. If they are really little, you might have to clean it out more, but I think it might be okay. If they are longer than an inch and a half each, I think its too small, but that is just my opinion.

I think that is way too much for a 10US gallon. 10US is only 8.3UK and that's way too much. If you follow the inch of fish per gallon

3 Glass cats - 3" each = 9"
3 mollies - 4" each = 12"
3 swordtails - 4-5" each = 12" at least

These are all full grown sizes but I am sure you get my point.

OK, thanks, I wasn't sure how big they got. They are each out an inch or inch and a half now.
I'll figure something out!
This fish habit is addictive! alc.gif

I love your advator, the kitty is so cute. Anway, back to the aquarium problem..I would look around at your local petstore, and get a 20 gal. or more. If you find those new aquariums are too expensive, go ask someone who works there, if they have any used or second - hand tanks. Check for leaks, cracks, or signs of weakness, and if you find a tank you like, and that is bigger than a 10 and 15 gallon, go for it. And one more tip: Do not get any more fish! lol. lol.GIF Not unless you get some more aquariums, at least. Don't plan on getting more fish, that's all I can say, until you get all your fish you have now, settled in their aquarium, and healthy, happy, and thriving, then you can just think about it with a little chance of pursuing it! rolleyes.gif

I know this is kinda late but I wanted to add something.....be careful on adding fish to any tank that has held other animals in there.....the urine from these animals will often become "imbedded" in the silicone and will be almost impossible to remove. The ammonia from the urine will then leach slowly out and may cause problems with the fish tank later on.

Well, I ended up temporarily putting the 2 goldies in the 10 gallon; I bought a 29 gallon for them and ordered a wooden stand and biospira. As soon as those come, I will set that tank up. So the 2 goldies will have a 29 gallon, the majority of the tropicals will be in the 55 gallon, and the glass cats, mollies, swordtails, and now 6 guppies, will be in the other 29 gallon. And now I have the african dwarf frogs in a 5 gallon. Whew! I will have the empty 10 gallon as a spare in case I need a hospital tank.
