What variety is this? Is it a black ryukin, red ryukin, black oranda or a red oranda that has not yet change its colour. This is self-bred fish with red oranda father and red/white oranda mother.

How big and old is the fish, HnLim? Without knowing that, I would be hoping it is a black or dark chocolate oranda. If its a rather young fish, say less than 6-8 months, it might still be a baby color, and go away pretty soon. However, one can only hope it stays that way.

Red Oranda hasn't change colour lah. Fish still 4 months, rite? Mine kept their colour until 1.5 years old tongue.gif

This is one of the self-bred oranda. 4 months old. Every other oranda has change colour except this one. I hope he is one of the rear one that will keep its black.

if it does stay dark, we could only surmise that tracing somewhere along its ancestral lines was a black fish...
Ranchugirl
One can only hope it stays that way - the dark color goes all the way down to the belly, no disappearing color there. Looks more like a chocolate than a black. Show him to us again in 4 months, and we'll see. smile.gif

Here is an update of this fella. Looks like it is going to be red after all. It is a pity the black are all going to be gone very soon. This fella seems to loose its black pretty fast.

Interesting because this is the same thing that is happening to Bandit.
I thought he was a Black Moor, but I guess he is just a Red Telescope.

If you look carefully, this fella looks like its is going to inherit red polka dotted scales.

aw, too bad he didn't retain the compact short-bodied profile. I kinda liked his outline more in the first picture...
