Nismo hun this is not a typical anal port wound it looks very like ulcer disease/furunculosis both caused by the same primary bacteria. Isn't this what your very first fish issue was with? An ulcer on her cheek or side? Seems the bacteria responsible for it are still around and you need to medicate for this specifically. This bacteria can survive 3 months in sediment and waste so increased gravel vacs and tank floor cleaning is very important.

This bacteria (probably Aeromonas salmonicida) is shed in the feces and passed into the tank this way-it is very contagious. All your fish will now be carriers - some may not go on to get the disease and just remain carriers. Ulcer disease is usually skin localised and easier to treat than furunculosis which quickly becomes systemic (internalised).

There are 2 kinds of both, chronic and acute. Acute cases of either are very nasty and can kill within days.

I think this is chronic furunculosis. The port is an area prone because the bacteria is in the poo and constantly passing out.
Since this disease affects the inside of the GI tract it may cause swelling of the abdomen soon, you need to get an anitbiotic sulfa medication ASAP.

Geltek's Ultra Cure BX found here contains 3 sulfa antibiotics that work together to be very powerful and are combined with nitrofurazone, another powerful drug. It is a medicated food. 5 drops tiwce a day. 3 days.

Don't get confused with another Geltek product called Ultracure PX -for internal parasites (don't know why they all have to have same sounding names, it is confusing!)P for parasites, B for bacteria.

You will also need a disinfectant type treatment in the water or a sulfa based water treatment. Both these are combined in Maracyn Plus by Mardel. NOT Maracyn 2. Maracyn Plus.

i'll try to get some update pictures of him so you can see it better

i was thinking could he suck in a gravel and released it caused the problem
Trinket

If a fish swallows gravel it would be on the bottom on its side with a lump first and then hopefully will pass the gravel through in pieces or if not and the gravel is large enough to make this kind of wound would die. A wound does not have the white tattered edges you can see on your fishes ulcer and also the same kind of ulcer we saw on your other fish some weeks ago.

I'm going to attach apicture of a furunculosis ulcer to show you how it resembles your fishes ulcer. In the pic the disease is farther progressed but the position is exactly the same. Anal port. This is the chosen site for over half of the furunculosis infections in fish.

Here's the pic from a disease diagnosis manual aeromonas salmonicida infection:

He has a good chance of recovery if you follow the directions of the 2 products closely ;remember to do a water change before dosing make sure there is plenty of air bubbles popping the surface; and maintaining a stable temperature and pH.

Well done for getting the meds.

Hi Nismo, how is your fish today? Trinket isn't here for a few days, and I just wanted to make sure your fish is doing okay. Were you able to get a fresher batch of the medicine? smile.gif

Sorry, I am not sure what is wrong with your poor fishy! unsure.gif I did notice in one of your pictures, you have worms on the side of your tank, which means that you have excessive food waste in the tank, I have had the same problem. This too means that you should probably try to clean the tank more frequently. Hopefully doing so will also help you fishy feel better!
NismoSkylineGTR
these are some air bubbles and scratches not worms thanks for the concern i always underfeed the fish i dont feed them alot
