Ok, so Okami likes to flare at himself. He's been at it for awhile, flaring at himself because when his tank light is on and the bedroom light is off, he can see his reflection on the inside of his tank. At first I didn't really mind him showing off his beautiful fins and I thought it'd be good fishy exercise.
As I was watching him a little while ago, he attacked his "enemy", open mouth *RAWR* and everything. I even heard a little 'thud' when he hit. So I turned his light off. I keep the tank lights on at night so Larry can see when he comes home at 1 a.m. and the light helps me wake up (there's a black sheet over the window)
Other than turning the light off at night, is there any other way to keep him from doing this? I might have to invent fish aspirin if he keeps at it...

Try covering the sides and back of his tank with a background. I did mine in black, and my guy stopped flaring at himself constantly. Now he only does it when I'm cleaning his tank or netting uneaten food.

It would be a good idea to turn the light out at night so the fish can sleep. I try to turn my lights on and off about the same time every day, so they are used to a schedule. Maybe get a nightlight for Larry? That way he can see where he's going and Okami won't get overly stressed by the light being on all the time.

He's in a 5 gallon Hex, so covering the sides would be a little difficult...
With the black sheet over the window, the room is pitch black and Larry always turns the tank lights off during the day for some reason.
I'll take the sheet down and try to get the lights on/off in a schedule.
Thanks guys!
