I've asked before but i know some people keep their commons/commets with other fancy goldfish so i wondered what your opinion was of it, wether it should be done or not.

thankyou biggrin.gif

I don't think it's a good idea at all. The commons are much faster and would eat all the food before the fancies waddled over. tongue.gif

IN general, a common or comet needs more water volume than a typical fancy goldfish. I would guesstimate that 20 gallons per fish is the minimum. They can easily get to 12 inches plus and are a very streamlined athlete of the tank.

Because of their swift swimming abilities, if kept with slower moving fancies they can often eat the majority of the food. Great care must be taken to make sure that all the fish get their due.

Many people do keep some fancies in ponds with commons, comets, andeven koi. Most of the time they are successful.

If I have a choice, I would NOT keep them together. They are just too different. But you probably CAN, with care - particularly when the single-tails are smaller. I have some shubies in with two Ranchu. The Ranchu are, in mass, much bigger than the Shubies - but they are longer. I will have to move them out as the Shubies get bigger, though. They would eat all the food and leave the Ranchu in the dust.
