I have my Betta in a 5 liter tank and do 50% water changes every second day, pH is 7.4. I noticed last week he had small grey patches around his head that looked like fungus and so I went and bought Jungle Fungus Clear, which was this fizzing tablet. I followed the instructions on the box, added the tablet, and then did a 25% water change four days later...his fungus has gotton worse! sad.gif It now looks more whitish and is in larger patches. Should I continue using the Jungle Fungus clear? or does anyone have any better ideas....any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I don't know if this will help your betta but I recently got a guppy that had white fungus on his fins. I kept him in a gallon bowl while treating him with a few drops of melafix and a few grains of aquarium salt. I removed the poo and uneaten food everyday as well as changing part of the water so he always had fresh. Then I added a few more drops of melafix and a couple salt grains--did this for about 3-4 days before I saw improvement. He is now fine and I think his fins are starting to grow back. Anyway the fungus is gone and he's in the regular tank with his guppy buddies.

OH ok melafix? I have some of that but I was wary of using it because I remembered reading that it harms Bettas? If it is fine though do you think it would be fine to switch meds?

Melafix is safe for bettas, as long as you use the proper dose. Did you add more fungus clear after the 25% water change? If not, then yes you can switch meds. Just make sure you run the full course of one, then follow up with a big water change before switching meds.

How is he doing today?

He's still not getting better. Mind you, he isn't getting any worse haha. I've been using the melafix. I think part of the problem is his water just won't be clean. I've been doing water changes every day (50%) but the tank is still filthy. I've been shopping around to find a cheaper large tank in hopes that that will make the water quality better and hopefully speed along his recovery.

On a side note...I think he hates me! haha. Everytime I go up to the tank he flares all his fins and gills. sad.gif
