Ryukins can be quite aggressive. I've noticed that with past ones I had. Your best bet is to separate them or build some kind of barrier down the center of the tank. What size tank are they in?

I am assuming that these are the "breeding pair" you posted about in breeding.....That being the case, they should be separated. A simple tank divider or a separate tank is called for, most likely. Some fish are more aggressive in their breeding behaviors - others are quite sedate. Ryukins have a reputation of being the "bad boys" of the tank, but, in my experience, they are no more or less active and aggressive than the other breeds.Size of the tank can make a lot of difference, too. In an overstocked or heavily stocked tank, breeding behaviors can get rather scary - for walls and plants and deco can tear and rip and injure as the hapless female is body-checked into them. You may wish to remove all plants and deco from the tank for the time being- eliminate anything that may be hazardous to fins. What are the tank's dimensions?
