Hi their i was just wonder how do you feed cucumber to a goldfish do you boil it or cook it or do you just attach it to a veggie clip?
FishCrazy
make sure it is safe.
An then boil it without adding anything..peal off the out side of the cucumber.

Then place in the tank(make sure it is nice and soft)

I would also turn off your filters. it can get messy

Then i would do a water change of 20%
omgitzandy
so you have to boil it

so you have to boil it

yes you have too

if not then

it is too hard and they can choke on it..
omgitzandy
Is their any other way i can make it softer easyer
Shamu23
i dont boil mine but then they cant eat it cause its too hard so I usually end up breaking it into little pieces for them, most of my single tailed goldies dont like it anyways except Cap.

You could take a slice of cucumber, peel off the outer skin, put it in a dish and add a bit (about 2 tsp?) of water, then microwave the whole thing until it's soft. Break off into small chunks, or mush into bitze-size pieces and feed to your goldies!
frloplady
how about zucchini? Can that be fed raw? Hadn't heard of feeding cukes
vickielm
Yeah, Mary, zucchini is the same. I wouldn't necessarily boil it, but I'd put it in a tiny amount of tank water and microwave it for a few secs till its soft. I tried a small amount of cukes once, but Moby and Florence weren't having any of it.
omgitzandy
Why do you need tank water why can't it just be normal water?
vickielm
I suppose you probably can. I've just always been advised to use a little water from the tank, so thats what I do. idont.gif Its no extra trouble.
omgitzandy
Do you have to take out seeds? Btw
FishCrazy
yes you have to take the seeds
omgitzandy
but i see people that don't take out the seeds
Tinkokeshi
if you are certain it's a cucumber, i'm fairly certain the seeds need to be taken out along with the "placenta".

unlike zucchini, the seeds of a cucumber are very tough and would most likely be difficult for the goldies to digest.
(we don't even digest them very well...)

but as previously mentioned...
heating in the microwave is quick and easy.
so if you wanna feed the cucumber,
peel the skin off (i'd leave a small part just so the veggie clip has something to "hold on to"),
scoop out the innards,
nuke it in the microwave,
let cool,
and you're good to go.

i've never fed cucumber myself, but i find that my goldies LOOOOVE zucchini. biggrin.gif

Whats are placentas and innards?
Tinkokeshi
oh haha sorry. innards and placenta = the inside part of the cucumber where the seeds are found... the part that you usually scrape out. smile.gif
