what is a good brand of goldfish food?
when i bought my black moore i ask the lfs what food is good and they gave me sera bio flakes and said that is what they are feeding their fishes.
is it better to switch to foods that are specifically for goldfish?
are color enhancing foods ok?
the only notable brands i see in the lfs in our area are tetra and sera. which is better between the two of them?

Your best bet is to feed pro gold or Hikari pellets. Sinking pellets are great because your fish won't injest air when they eat food from the bottom. I order both brands offline as you can't get them at local pet shops around here.

What about frozen brine shrimps and blood worms? I think the Hikari frozen food are the best in terms of nutrients ingredience.

Tetra fish food is junk and I don't know anything about sera. Omega One is the best fish food I've seen in pet stores. I used to use Hikari but switched to Omega One because it has much better ingretiance. Pro gold is a private label goldfish food that is only avalable from the goldfish connection and considered one of the best foods.

Omega One is great food that comes in different sized pellets depending on the size of your fish.

All my fish get nothing but New Life Spectrum. It is the best diet I have ever used and has proven to be the best fish food out there. You can check out their site for tons of information (Nutrition article, video, and testimonials, even a forum to help you with the food). You can check out my Photobucket page to see my fish that have been on it exclusively for about two years now. My fancy goldfish do very well on the Large Fish Formula.

I agree; Omega One is one of the highest quality foods you can find in store. My commons love their Omega One flakes!

Pellets are a lot cleaner and fill them up better. And more and more stores are now carrying NLS.

Flakes are good for fish under 2 inches. Pellets are better for fish over 2 inches. I feed my fish pellets as soon as their big enough to eat them.

Even smaller fish can eat pellets. You may need a smaller pellet though. Even if the pellet is too big, they still grab it and hold on to it while it softens. This is a really good thing since it keeps the aggressive eaters busy while the less aggressive feeders get a chance to fill up.
