I have been reading that one should only buy frozen brine shrimp that is labeled "bacteria free." Is there a particular brand that I should look for?

I did buy a package of it, but now I realize that it does not say anything about bacteria on the package.

I am wondering - should I cook the tiny shrimp in the microwave?

I did feed it to them a few times, and they loved it, but now I am concerned.

Thanks!

I bought a huge block of frozen brine shrimp - not baby brine shrimp, a while back. It was just a slab of frozen shrimp - and I just broke off chunks and dropped them in. I really did not like them, though. The block had bird feathers and all kinds of nasty inclusions - I even lost a fry (larger fry) to choking on a bird feather!

I do, however, like the frozen cubes of brine shrimp - or spiriliana/shrimp. I just drop the whole frozen cube in the water. My fry eat them as they thaw. For larger fish, I incorporate the shrimp into gel food - and they will eat a whole 1/2 inch cube in one bite - SNAP!

You do not need to cook them.

Try to find Hikari Frozen Bloodworms and Brineshrimp. I have been using them to feed all my fish for the past 5 yrs. They are 100% safe/free of bacterias/parasites.
