I have been trying to save a few eggs from the biggest tank, where my shubunkin and 2 doubletail males are. But as soon as the eggs have hatched the fry disappeared from the fry net. The must have been eaten through the net...
Then I had an idea, I found an old breeder box, plastic, and put it outside the fry net, so the grown fish could not reach them.
So now I have 3 free swimming fry... I hope for a doubletail shubunkie...
First pic.

Now that is an excellent idea

You can take the box out to clean and it stops the big fish from trying to suck out the fry food-and worse- from the net

Congratulations! I wish you the best of luck with them. Are you planning on keeping them in the breeder box or moving them to separate quarters?

They will have the whole tank for themselves when the big ones go out to the pond!

That is an excellent idea! I am thinking of swiping it. I have a few fry (I do not know how many, but it cannot be more than just a few) that hatched out a few days ago in a bucket on the kitchen counter. I need to get them into something else. The main tank with a fry box sounds perfect!
I am eager to see if you get double tails, too! I hope so.

Amazing that all these colorful, long-tailed goldfish start as such dinky see-thru specks!
Must be very interesting and entertaining, raising fry.

Yeah you could even see some tiny poop.....
They eat Tetra MiniBaby food.
I have raised all my fish on that food, I trust it.

I have severe Internet probs right now, but I will throw in some updates of my fry.
I found a newly hatched fry and put it in the net, don't know if he will make it, he's so much tinier than the other.
The big ones are 2 weeks old now.

A big one and the tiny one!

Here are some blurry, lousy pics of my 2 remaining fry. I had a bad camera day.
Both of them.

The big one.

Maybe it's a calico?

The little one. I suspect it
might have a double tail..... you can't see on these lousy pics...

They live in separate fry nets and only meet at cleaning time.

Today I lost the big fry... it just died during the night... don't know why....
Only one fry left, and of course the 10 in the other tank, born in the summer.
