Well, Wednesday is the DAY! Tank is ready for Rainbow and freinds. She is a beauty that has been living in a large bowl for about 2 months (long enough to get her tank cycled!). What should her friends be in a 10 gallon tank? Where can you find plants (Anacharis)? She loves her plastic lilly pad! I have read somewhere they don't like more bubbles? Is this true and if not then will her freinds be OK without them? Lots of questions but I want to do it right!

Bubbles are fine, just try to get the lowest power air pump you can and concentrate the bubbles in one spot. As for tank mates, I suggest some cory cats, an apple snail(<- they are a lot of fun), zebra danio, hatchfish, or mollies.
I know my local mmm has anacharis in a tank along with some other plants. You might want to try there first. If not, mmm and nnnn sell packaged plants. Be sure to google mondo grass before going. It is commonly sold as an aquarium plant but it only survives under water for a few months. My bettas always enjoyed swards. Ocelot swards are magnificent, definitely snag one if you come across them.

My female betta is in a 20 gal tank with cory cats, upside down cats and platies. She gets along fine with all of them and doesn't bother anyone. I did have her in with zebra danios for awhile and my only concern was that she was getting really skinny. The danios were too fast getting all the food and she couldn't compete. She is much happier now and has even grown a bit now that she's getting proper nutrition!

Thank you to ALL who replied! I am going to postpone the time frame due to spring break and going to go on a short vacation. I don't want to change things and then leave them. I am really excited but want to do things right. The 10 gallon tank is perfect for the tropicals to move into (Rainbow and new freinds) and the 30 gallon is almost perfect for my 3 goldfish. It right now has a very small pleco in it that has helped it cycle. Since the postponement then both tanks should be just perfect for them all. I know that I am ready and my son is also but to be fair to the fish, I want to be home when our new freinds are purchased.

If you want, you could try to make a sorority.
