WOW such a green plant! I like that kind, with many little leaves. What plant is it? And please explain, what is "pearling"?
Kuli_Loach
Thats Anacharis. Pearling occurs when the plants photosynthesis is at max meaning it is getting all it needs. It produces an air bubble adding O2 to the tank.

I've gotten that (pearling) before with the apons in my betta's tank. But it only seems to happen when sunlight shines directly on the tank.
Kuli_Loach
Well if you could, get better lighting and they will do that all the time. It will increase the O2 by 120%

Adding Co2 to the water also causes plants to pearl.
Kuli_Loach
Well it's not one thing that causes them to pearl. The things that causes it are:

Great Lighting
CO2
Nutrients in gravel
Nutrients in Water
Water Movement is less

All these and a few more come together can cause the plant to be doing as good as it possible can.
Sushi67
Normal and even strong water movement won't stop plants from pearling but it will become less noticeable due to the bubbles getting swept away.
