I decided after many weeks of thinking..that it's time to get a Betta..I've had them in the past and loved them. My grandmother Breeds this species and I'm going to take a shot..I got a young male and female And I will let him adjust and become very happy

. I've been reading alot on these fish and from seeing my grandma's I think I can do it

The bettas are in a 10g tank heated tank with a divider..The tank is fully cycled so the water quality is great...Heres some awsome pics
Heres the female who name is Doll...

His already showing he wants her

he's flaring, attacking the glass and swimming around all happy.. I will wait till he builds a nice nest I'm going to get some cups to help him.. And when I see the female getting her lines I will prolly put her in and and keep close watch!

Aww thanks hun!..I have several jars and what not..lol..I have resources for jars

Baby food jars work well after the babies need to be removed.

no silly goose they need bigger jars. Actually a betta spawn can be about 100 fry. If you breed you crowntail with your female veiltail you are going to get combtails or veiltails. But they are both Beauties. Congrats

No I was talking about the larger babyfood jars..My grandmother uses these with no problems..Only until the fry are bigger

I have tons of other large jars.. She puts 1 betta per jar not all of them!

actually you can leave the fry together untill the boys get old enough to start fighting then you have to seperate them out but the girls can stay together

Micro-worms... she tried the Infusoria when she started out but now makes her own fry foods... Im going to do a test with the micro-worms Im going to try different things instead of oatmeal.. She has her garage set up with betta tanks..She's good at it..She does get some bad fry but she has tons of bettas so she still makes out with plenty of healthy bettas...

Yeah, I may just take out the daddy once the fry are swimming..and then set up the jars...I have it worked out with my LFS to take any healthy fry so I wont be up in betta tails

Well I've dropped the water to 6inches..the heat is up to 80 and I've put a cup in..He's really showing off to her and she's interested. He's already blowing bubbles in his cup

so, In about 2 weeks or so I will let her into his castle...maybe sooner..she's already showing dark lines so I will still wait until his nest is ready. I hope he's going to be a good daddy!
How long would it take him to make his nest? cuz he's sure working on it!

depends. sometimes the male makes a nest while courting the female but sometimes he waits till they are actually mating and the female is dropping the eggs. You can help him save the nest and encourage him to make one by chimneing the girl and putting a foam cup cut in half on the water surface. It might encourage him to build the nest under it and will protect it when he does. Indian almond leaf is good for encouraging nest building and breeding. If you can not get any Attisons Betta spa might do in a pinch

I've never seen a female with such a gorgeous color! Then again, most bettas I see are the poor ones swimming in fish store cups.
